Main Street Design Walking Tour

Short design walk followed by hour+ community meeting and discussion. Ice cream sandwiches and drinks provided! This is the second in a series of three community workshops to identify and customize design guidelines for Sellwood-Moreland's historic main streets core areas. Learn about Portland's common design patterns of streetcar-era buildings and corridors. Find out how neighborhoods can help foster more compatible development that provides better density while respecting the neighborhood's roots and character. Come and give us your input on design priorities, goals for new development, and preservation.  Space is limited so REGISTER NOW!

Friends of Westmoreland Park Work Day

Volunteers needed!  Please join us.  Help remove invasive plants and clean up the park.  When? The last Tuesday of each month, April through October, from 10:00 to noon.  Meet at the picnic table next to the playground. Bring work gloves and, if possible, your favorite gardening tool. (Tools will be provided if not.)

6:00 - 6:05 PM: Introductions. 6:05 - 6:10 PM: Update on Main Street Design Initiative. 6:10 - 7:05 PM: Historic Resources Project and Conservation Districts: The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is advancing a zoning code project that will make changes to how the City of Portland identifies, designates and protects historic resources. Conservation districts are geographic areas that are historically significant at the neighborhood level and regulated with more flexible historic resource protections than historic districts.
