The Transportation Committee focuses on transportation issues in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood, including auto, pedestrian, bicycle and transit concerns. The committee addresses a broad range of topics from safe bicycle and pedestrian routes, to TriMet services, to neighborhood parking, and more.
The committee is open to all SMILE members (residents, businesses and owners of property in the neighborhood).
SMILE currently needs folks to participate in the Transportation Committee. Committee members field reports from the neighborhood about transportation-related issues, the most significant of which (as measured by number of reports from SMILE members on the issue) are safety and traffic-calming and parking, in that order. You relay those reports to the city (or county, etc.) and then do the necessary follow-up. The city or county will also periodically reach out to the committee, for example, to proactively share that a big project is on the way, or to do other outreach or informal public surveying, etc. If you’re interested in being an active member of the committee, please contact transportation-chair@sellwood.org.
