Oaks Bottom Nature Walk
Friends of Oaks Bottom Committee Members, Joshua Meyers and John Sparks will be leading a nature walk at Oaks Bottom on Saturday, February 3rd from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. We will make a slow loop around the Bottom checking out flora and fauna, with some local geology and history thrown in!  We'll meet at the Sellwood Park parking lot at 7th and Malden and take the trail down to the South Meadow. This month we're gathering at Oaks Pioneer Church to learn about the terrible storm-related damage at the SMILE Station and the Sellwood Community House, the work underway to save these beloved neighborhood buildings, timelines for returning them back to our community, and how we all can help save these neighborhood treasures for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren. Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge Volunteer Event
Help keep Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge healthy with Portland Parks & Recreation and the Friends of Oaks Bottom. We will be planting native plants and removing English ivy and Himalayan blackberry if there's time to make way for native plant species. Please dress for the weather, wear waterproof boots (rain boots are recommended!), bring rain gear, and personal water bottle. Tools, gloves, project instruction, warm beverages and snacks will be provided. Registration is required.

Let's gather together, dear neighbors, and enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music! SMILE, Moreland Presbyterian Church, and SMBA are presenting a Midwinter Concert and Fundraiser at Moreland Presbyterian Church (great acoustics!) at 2 pm on Sunday, February 18. The concert will feature musician and educator Catarina New. Set 1 will be classical music with the PDX Saxophone Quartet. Set 2 will be jazz with a quartet featuring Catarina on vocals and sax. Sellwood Community House is sponsoring a lively, interactive workshop to develop the wisdom and courage to answer all of your kid's questions about puberty, sex, and all they want to know about their growing minds and bodies. The workshop will be facilitated by Roads to Family's Rachel Ginocchio. Â Suggested donation: $15, but pay what you can!
