Land Use Committee Meeting

6:00 – 6:05 PM: Introductions.

6:05 – 6:55 PM: Discuss the Design Overlay Zones Amendments Draft Concept Report and outline recommended comments for the SMILE Board to consider adopting. The overlay applies to all of our commercial and multi-family zones. The Project is proposing to remove the overlay from single-dwelling zones, to change the thresholds that trigger requirements, to add preservation bonuses for ‘character’ buildings (our low commercial storefronts), and a new conceptual framework for design guidelines and community design standards (which are almost always used in our neighborhood).  More information is at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/bps/70324.

6:55 – 7:05 PM: Review zoning changes now that the new Comprehensive Plan is in effect.

7:05 – 7:15 PM: Discuss testimony to present at the Portland Planning and Sustainability Commission hearing on the Better Housing by Design Project June 12.  Our written testimony is available at sellwood.org.
