PBOT Project Manager Rich Newland will attend the meeting to discuss issues with the new signal at SE 6th and Tacoma.   At this meeting Rich would like to hear some of the neighborhood concerns and comments, and he’ll tell us how they’re going to proceed. This will be the first step, followed by collecting new traffic volume and speed data, and recommending improvements or changes.

Note from Transportation Committee Chair Scott Kelly:  “I know there are some passionate attitudes about cut through traffic and the new signal. It would help PBOT if we can prioritize what we want, and I’d like to encourage everyone to think about this before the scoping meeting. Do we want to reduce traffic backups on Tacoma? Provide for safer and more comfortable bike and pedestrian mobility? Engineer neighborhood streets to discourage cut through traffic? Reduce the number of motor vehicle trips overall? These aren’t always mutually exclusive, but they can be.”
