DESCRIPTION:Friends of Oaks Bottom Committee Members\, Joshua Meyers and John Sparks will be leading a nature walk at Oaks Bottom on Saturday\, February 3rd from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We will make a slow loop around the Bottom checking out flora and fauna\, with some local geology and history thrown in!\n \nWe’ll meet at the Sellwood Park parking lot at 7th and Malden and take the trail down to the South Meadow. Wear appropriate gear for the weather that morning\, and bring your own drinks and snacks if you need them. Binoculars will be very useful. There is no cost for this outing\, but donations are accepted.\n \nFamily members and friends are very welcome\, but this walk is not suitable for very young children except perhaps those of the portable variety. It’s OK to leave early if you have another commitment.\n \nPlease RSVP your interest to friendsofoaksbottom@gmail.com with your name and size of your party so we can notify you directly if there happen to be any changes in the schedule.

DESCRIPTION:Let’s gather together\, dear neighbors\, and enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music! \n\nSMILE\, Moreland Presbyterian Church\, and SMBA are presenting a Midwinter Concert and Fundraiser at Moreland Presbyterian Church (great acoustics!) at 2 pm on Sunday\, February 18. The concert will feature musician and educator Catarina New. Set 1 will be classical music with the PDX Saxophone Quartet. Set 2 will be jazz with a quartet featuring Catarina on vocals and sax.  Corkscrew Wine Bar will be on hand to handle all of your beverage needs!  \n\nAll money raised through this concert will help support Transition Projects’ Willamette Center and their residents.  The suggested donation is $10 per adult and $5 per student or pay what you can. As seating is limited\, we encourage attendees to get a ticket ahead of time.  While you’re at it\, consider purchasing a ticket for a Willamette Center resident.  SMILE’s Housing Solutions Committee will be collecting new and gently used backpacks and duffel bags.

DESCRIPTION:Friends of Oaks Bottom (FOOB) is hosting another Nature Walk on Saturday\, May 4th\, from 9:00  a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We will be making a slow circle around the refuge on public trails identifying birds\, other wildlife\, and flora. Aspects of the natural history of the refuge will also be addressed. The FOOB Nature Walk leaders will be Joshua Meyers and John Sparks. \nThe walk is approximately 2.8 miles and flat\, with a short descent/ascent of Sellwood Bluff. There are restrooms in Sellwood Park\, where we begin and end the walk\, but none along the route. \nPlease RSVP (friendsofoaksbottom@gmail.com) with the number of members in your party if you are interested (and put the event on your calendar!).
