Sellwood Bridge

The Sellwood Bridge project is an ongoing effort by Multnomah County to replace this 85-year old Willamette River crossing with a new, seismically-sound structure that offers upgraded facilities for all users. The project is currently in the final design phase. A citizen committee is meeting throughout 2011 to recommend design features for a Steel Deck Arch bridge type. Construction will begin in 2012.
The best way to keep informed about the project’s most up-to-date information is to visit the project’s website: http://www.sellwoodbridge.org/
For more background on Sellwood-Moreland’s nearly two decades of tranportation planning history, read the Tacoma Main Street Plan, which was adopted by the City of Portland in 2002. It reflects a long history of transportation planning with regards to Tacoma Street, the local collector street connected to the bridge.
