Park To Park Walkway Showcase at Moreland Farmers Market – Wed Sept 23 and 30

Introducing the Park To Park Walkway. Imagine being able to walk from Sellwood Park to Westmoreland Park in the shade of trees on well marked crossings with seamless curb cuts! Park to Park Map (Keaton just rode his bike to the park and had to walk it up and down a dozen curbs!). Imagine traffic driving slowly down Lambert and Bidwell Streets. Improvements still need to happen at the intersection of Lambert and 22nd Street at Westmoreland Park. Also curb cuts are missing from many of the blocks along the way and more trees would be welcomed. I just caught wind of a fresh grant opportunity to fund more improvements.
Here’s what it takes to secure the grant. We need to demonstrate that our community of 10,000 souls sees this Park To Park Walkway as a priority. We have ambitious goals which include:
* Showcasing the walkway at the farmers market next Wednesdays Sept 23rd and 30th. (Sign the petition and check out the maps of the area).
* Creating a new Walkway website with maps and areas to improve
* Presentation at the Oct 7th SMILE meeting
* Marching as a community on the Park to Park Walkway
* Naming competition for the Walkway
* Ideas for Art/Cultural features or theme along the walkway
* Making the walkway the first stroller friendly East /West Sellwood connection
* Educational/Research component working with kids at Sellwood Schools.
