Land Use Committee, June Update
Jun 29th, 2009 by mat
7924 SE 16th Ave. This is a proposal to remove a one story, single car garage located along the north property line and construct a new two story structure at the northeast corner of the lot. The new structure would contain a two car garage and an accessory dwelling unit above it. Comments are due to the City by July 28, 2009.
New Committee Member. We’ve recruited a new member for our Land Use Committee, Kay Seiler, who lives in Westmoreland. Kay has been very involved in the proposal to subdivide the lot at SE 15th and Reedway (see below), has lived in the neighborhood for a long time, and will broaden our geographic reach to have a member from the northern part of the SMILE neighborhood.
5714 SE 15th Ave. This is the property proposed for subdivision into 4 very small lots. SMILE objected to this proposal on a number of points and held a neighborhood contact meeting with the owner and immediate neighbors at the SMILE Station on June 6. The action is with the City right now and we are expecting a decision or further discussion at any time.
1406 SE Nehalem St. This was the proposal by a private individual to buy the old Sellwood Library and change it from its existing use as a church meeting place to an office and small residence. It does not look as if this proposal (which would involve a zoning change) is going to come to fruition. We’re putting it in our completed file.
1911 SE Sherrett St. We did not comment on the proposal to divide this property in half. It is consistent with current zoning, there were no objections to SMILE from the immediate neighbors, and it appeared to fit with current land uses in the neighborhood.
